Represent. Reflect.

The Missional Imperatives mentioned earlier are written large on the wall of the pantry lobby. We discuss one every pantry day with the volunteers, trying to infuse them with the way we want to operate. Let’s look at the imperatives a little deeper.

Represent and Reflect is both an imperative and an aspiration. We want to make our organization welcoming to all. So much so that participants want to—and will--volunteer. We want the faces people see when they walk in to look like them, a cross section of our community. A friendly face, a common language that might not be English, a warm smile. But this imperative goes beyond that personal interaction, too. We strive to represent our neighbors who may be underrepresented in community leadership and activities. Representing the low-income community means speaking up for them, fighting for their rights and their needs. Ensuring that our community works for ALL members of it.

Come see how we are living out these imperatives as we strive to help our neighbor.
